On a 1–5 effort scale where lower is better, a score below 2.5 is good, with under 2.0 indicating best-in-class performance. Benchmarks vary meaningfully by industry. E-commerce and retail typically score 5.6–6.2 due to simpler query types and higher self-service uptake. Financial services averages 4.8–5.5, where regulatory complexity increases perceived effort. Telecoms sits around 4.5–5.2, reflecting high call volumes and complex troubleshooting interactions.
